ATTENTION : TUITION ON 26TH.NOVEMBER IS CANCELLED
Hallo Everyone,
The A.G.M. was held on the 1st.October and was well attended by an enthusiastic group of members. The President gave her report as did the Treasurer. The new committee were elected as follows.
President-Frances Crichton, Vice-President-David Smith, Treasurer-Jane Gair-Douglas, Secretary-Paddy Smith and committee members-Stella Grover, Harry Hill and Bert Turnbull. A good bunch I think you will agree as they have already assembled for their first committee meeting and are ready to burst into action on our behalf.
Our Membership fees are set to go up to £20 this year. As I explained at the A.G.M. our rent has gone up and we have been fortunate that our fees had stayed at £15 for some time.
The draw for the painting by Dave McCaroll was won by Elizabeth Corbet and the First Dorothy Wharton Award was won by Bill Hoggan for his painting of Children at the Beach. Many congratulations to Bill.
After all that we gathered round the coffee to catch up on the gossip.
Watercolour workshop with Angus Mc Donald
Angus McDonald’s workshop on Saturday 4th.October had a rather chilly start but we relocated to the smaller back room and it went on to be a great success. He started with a demo and then we all started working while he went round us helping where necessary, encouraging and demonstrating whatever we asked. He showed us how to paint figures in a very loose way which made them look astonishingly real so hopefully all the workshop folk will be painting figures with gay abandon now. At the end of the day we gathered round while he discussed all the work before him, Angus was an excellent tutor and we all agreed it would be good to have another workshop with him.
On the 19TH. NOVEMBER we are having “An evening with Pastels” by Elizabeth Corbet.
Elizabeth says;
“If you have pastels bring them along but if not and you wish to buy some, I suggest a few different blues and other sky colours. These can be bought individually from Burns and Harris. There is a supply of paper at the club. I do have some extra pastels myself which people may use. I aim to concentrate on skies and will do a short demonstration before ‘letting you loose’. If you have photos or other source material you would like to work from please bring that along too”
John Carberry’s demonstration of acryclic painting
Well that’s about it for now folks. I am asked by our Treasurer Jane (01333-360536 evenings) to let you know that subscriptions are now due and she is happy to accept them.
Happy Painting,
Lyn 01333-360387
